6+ Must Visit Attractions in Busan, Korea

Feel confusing about how to plan your trip in Busan? Have no idea where to go in Busan?
After watching this video, I believe you will definitely be impressed by this city.

After watching Busan 10 Dollar Tour video, I wish I were there in Busan right now visiting again!
I studied in Seoul for a year before, and every time I visited Busan I fell in love with it.
Besides beautiful scenery, delicious foods and relaxing weather, what is the most important and attractive factor of going? The hospitality of southern people. It is a feeling of going back home.
So what are the places for people who come for the first time? Let’s cut to the point and hit on the road right now!

1. Haeundae District 해운대

When mentioning Busan, Haeundae is almost the representative place in Busan. There is no reason coming to Busan in summer without visiting here.
Every year, thousands of Koren flood into Haeundae to enjoy the nice summer time. As the picture above, the whole beach is occupied with the umbrellas and the people. This is for certain the must-visit place in Busan.

The beach is the playground for people; the sky is the paradise for the seagulls!
If you would like to be “besieged” by the seagulls, you may feed them with Xia-Wei-Xian (Shrimp Flavoured Corn Chips). You may experience to be a superstar (of seagull…) right away!

Other Places to Visit:
By Car: you may drive along the Dalmaji-gil Road with the view of the beautiful landscape, the blue sea and the sandy seashore…etc.
Walk: you may walk along the beach to the Dongbaek Park for visiting the glassy Nurimaru APEC House, the site of the APEC Leaders’ Meeting in 2005.

2. Taejongdae 태종대

Different from the Haeundae beach, Taejongdae is famous for its pebble beach and the coastal erosion. The magnificent cliff stretching into the sea has been eroding by the wave for long time and the most well-known is the Sinseon Rock. Apart from the grotesque rocks and the beautiful seascape, you will be impressed by (or worried about…?) the braveness of the Korean standing closely to the sea. As well as being a national treasure, Taejongdae is also known as a notorious suicide spot. To deter the jumpers, the government erected a statue of mother holding children, representing the symbol of the mother’s love anticipating people’s reconsideration.

In the end, strongly suggest people to ride a tram through Taejongdae!
On days with clear skies you can see Japan’s Tsushima Island from the observatory.

Other Places to Visit:
Julyoung seasidewalk road is also a nice place to take a walk along the coast and then have a meal in Nampo Dong.

3. Haedong Yonggungsa 해동용궁사

Haedong Yonggung Temple is a Buddhist temple in Gijang-gun, Busan and it is one of 3 Sacred Places related to the Goddess Buddha. The motto of Haedong Yonggung temple is "At least one of your wishes will be answered here through your heartful prayers."

The Haedong Yonggung temple is situated near the sea unlike other temples located in mountains. Seated on the rocks along the coast, you may enjoy the beautiful seascape. I have been there twice. One is in summer time when cherry blossoms. The other is in winter season when it snows. Both scenery are unbelievably incredible.

4. Nampo Dong 남포동

Nampo Dong in Busan is about the same idea as Myeong Dong in Souel lined with a wide variety of shops in this area. Guangfu road is the main street. No matter locals or tourists, when thinking of shopping, Nampo Dong is the first choice!

Apart from those dazzling fancy items, you shouldn’t miss the street food scattering in almost every street and lane, either. What I recommend the most is Ssiat hotteok, sweet Korea pancake stuffed with seeds. Hotteok is easy to find everywhere on the street selling it. However, Busan hotteok brings a bit more to this street treat. Inside of the cake, it is stuffed fully with pine nuts, sunflower and pumpkin seeds.

Other Places to Visit:
Nampo Dong has a great advantage on the location. It is convenient to travel from one part to anther. So save some time for yourself to explore more ~

BIFF Square (비프광장)
Busan International Film Festival is one of the reason that makes it so famous. This annual international film festival used to be one of the most prestigious film festivals among Asia. Come here  and search for your favorite directors’ hand-printing!

Yongdusan Park (용두산공원)
The most conspicuous 118-meter-high Busan Tower is located here in the Yongdusan Park. With a series of elevators leading up to the park, that makes it more easier for people to visit.

International Market (국제시장)
If Nampo Dong is the “Myeong Dong” of Busan, then I will say International Market is the Namdaemun Market of Busan! (Agree?
With a diversity of products

Bupyeong Kkangtong Market (깡통시장)
It is near the International Market. Bupyeong Kkangtong Market is a traditional market famous for selling various imported goods. Originally, it used to sell imported cans and this is how they earned this funny name, Kkangtong Market.

LOTTE Mart, Guangfu Rd. (롯데백화점 광복점)
You might be curious why we pick this LOTTE Mart in Busan especially. The Lotte is famous for  its Aquatique Show. It was even selected as one of the World's most spectacular fountains by CNN!!! Besides that, there is also a small zoo on the roof of the mart. It is also a decent place for the night view!

Jagalchi Market (자갈치시장)
Jagalchi Market is a famous fish market in Busan. If you are interested in trying fresh seafood, you shouldn’t miss it!

40-step Culture & Tourism Theme Street (40계단)
Located in the center of Busan, many people escaped to here during the Korean War. It is a place with history of scar.

Bosu-dong Book Street (보수동책방골목)
This is the paradise for the book fans. Thousands of book stores turn the street into a beautiful book maze.

5. GAMCHEON CULTURE VILLAGE (감천문화마을)

What image in your mind about slum? Slum in Korean is a beautiful word: the village of the moon (달동네)
It was originally a forgotten village. However, it is successfully transformed art-themed after many artists redecorated the Gamcheon village with various works of art.

The tourist information center at the entrance sells the map of the Gamcheon village. If you follow the route and collect all the stamps, you can exchange it into a beautiful postcard.

Other Places to Visit:
Well~Nampo Dong is not far from the Gamcheon village. If you still have the shopping mood, you can go back hunting!

6. Gwangalli (광안리)

Gwangalli beach is another summer HOT attraction for teenagers in Busan. The night view of Gwangan Bridge is also the reason for tourists to visit. Gwangan Bridge, the second longest one, connects the Gwangalli and the Haeundae. The lights shine bright at night beautifully on the river.
Besides that, there are many nice coffee shops surrounded. What can be more enjoyable than watching the night view with a cup of coffee in a cafe.

Other Places to Visit:
Hwangnyong Mountain (황령산)
Hwangnyong Mountain is located in the heart of Busan. The panoramic view stretches out to the   spectacularly shiny Busan city and the tranquil Gwangan Bridge. You won’t regret!!!
