Without Dog Meat, It Is Not a Feast for Korean

Yanbian consumed more than 300,000 dogs a year on average.

Yanbian's local diet is deeply influenced by Korean. Today let's share with you another extremely popular dished both in Yanbian and South Korea: dog.

Korean custom of eating dog meat is actually originated from Western world. Even though, the Western countries were against it during South Korea was applying for the host of 2002 World Cup. The movement still failed to shake the custom away from the culture.

"Dog roll three roll, fairy waddled." The proverb is the widely said around Yanbian and Korean. The proverb meant to say that even the gods staggered after eating the dog meat in a hot boiling pot. We could know the dog's meat in the Korean culture. Koreans love to eat dog meat. They considered eating dog meat can detoxify, especially in the summer days when the heat and sweaty quickly consume the energy.

Speaking of how Koreans eat dog meat, it is a very long list like hot dog, dog meat soup, simmer-fried dog... etc. Each dish is the plate of delicacy. In an ordinary Korean family, the most common way of eating dog meat is to boil with water or put it in the hot pot.

Yanbian's dog's hot pot is the variation from the dog meat soup. When making it, you have to cut it into parts, each part could not be more than one kilogram. Soaked the parts in the water for half hour. Then, put the soaked dog meat in water and boil the meat. You'll have to clean the bubbles on the top during boiling. Take it out and wash the meat afterward. Put the dog meat and Suzi together into the pot, add a little water, cover it and cook for 3-4 hours. When the meat is rotten from the bone, you could take it out. And it's time for the hot pot, pour in some vinegar, some dog meat soup and the meat. Boil it with hot red charcoal. Add salt, MSG, rice wine seasoning, it's good to eat. Eat the meat with noodles, tofu, vegetables, mushrooms and other dishes, it's delicious. The taste is not too greasy. It could can fend off the cold winter and the best solutions for summer heat.
